How You Can Help Us

Help Us by Volunteering

Volunteering to help the 4th Bolsover Scout Group can mean anything from offering transportation to and from our events, to spending a couple of hours every few months by sitting on our Executive Committee, to offering a couple of hours’ help in assisting in running a section meeting. We would love to hear from you if you would like to help us to run Scouting events for the children in the 4th Bolsover Scout Group.

Parents and Carers

A very important part of the 4th Bolsover Scout Group is our parents and carers. The group cannot function without them!

Scout Leaders are unpaid volunteers who run Scouting activities in their spare time. The weekly meetings can be quite hard work for the leaders but you could help us out by:

Offering to help on an occasional or regular basis
Staying to help tidy up at the end of the meeting sometimes
Applying for a Disclosure & Barring Service check (formerly CRB) for The Scout Association with our assistance, which allows you to help us on our camping trips.
If you have a particular skill or hobby that you would be prepared to share with the group then please let us know and we’ll do our best to incorporate it into the programme.
Scout Groups receive no government support and there are only three ways that we can generate the resources to enable us to continue.

by using volunteers to help with individual sections, maintain the premises, organise appeals and events
through appeals and events
through subscriptions (including Gift Aid)

Group Council

All parents and leaders are automatically part of the Group Council. The Group Council meets once a year to elect an Executive Committee to take decisions on behalf of the whole group. Others who are not on the committee can take on specific supporting roles and we would encourage everyone to do one job or another for at least one of the years that their child is a member of our Group.
