St George’s Day : A Celebration of Scouting

Baden-Powell chose Saint George to be the patron Saint of Scouting. He felt that the Saint George legend set a good example of faith, courage and perseverance for future generations. St George’s Day is celebrated on the 23rd April, and around this time Scouts will hold some form of celebration.

 

This year 4th Bolsover Scout Group, and all of the Scouting Groups in East Scarsdale District will gather to parade and celebrate together in Whitwell.

 

22nd April 2018

2pm : Meet at Whitwell Community Centre.  Parking at Whitwell Health Centre and adjacent roads

2.15pm : Parade moves off around Whitwell

2.45pm : Arrive at St. Lawrence Church

3- 4pm: Service

4pm : Parade back to Whitwell Community Centre.

Following dismiss, refreshments will be available inside Whitwell Community Centre.
